The following persons have been recommended by the North Carolina Conference Missions Team for Salary Support:
WIL BAILEY (#S-00140) San Isidro,Costa Rica (SEJ/Conference Missionary) Wil will be responsible for working with local pastors in the southern zone of Costa Rica and will organize the projects at the Methodist churches in that area for U.S. workteams. Also will teach Theology, Bible and English at the extension campus of the Methodist seminary in San Isidro. RICHARD BRYANT (#15076Z) Area Financial Executive for United Methodism in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan Rev. Bryant’s main focus is sharing in the life and ministry of the people of Russia and Eurasia. His responsibilities include the administration of all Advance projects, serving as treasurer of each Advance project, and oversight of the distribution of the Russia initiative funds. PAT EBERT (#13152Z) Patricia Ebert is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church assigned to the United Methodist Committee on Relief Guest House in Port au Prince, Haiti. Patricia is the co-coordinator of the United Methodist Volunteer in Mission Program along with her husband, Walter, also a GBGM missionary. Mrs. Ebert relates to the Methodist Church of Haiti and the Caribbean Conference of Churches (CCC) as well as over-seeing financial resources for the guest house and the UMVIM Program. WALT EBERT (#13151Z) Walter C. Ebert is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church assigned to the United Methodist Committee on Relief Methodist Guest House in Port au Prince, Haiti. Walt will be co-coordinator of the United Methodist Volunteer in Mission Program in Haiti along with wife Pat, also a GBGM missionary. Working with the Methodist Church of Haiti and the Caribbean Conference of Churches (CCC), Walt will be utilizing his construction knowledge and skills as he oversees projects and teams arriving as part of the UMVIM Program. SHANA HARRISON (#13089Z) Chile Shana is assigned as a chaplain of Colegio Psicopedagogico Juan Wesley in Santiago, Chile encouraging persons with disabilities to explore, express and nurture their spirituality. GREG JENKS (#S-00148) ZOE (Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor) Zimbabwe, Africa (Conference Missionary) Greg is serving with the Zimbabwe Conference and other areas of sub-Sahara Africa for the purpose of developing a comprehensive ministry in response to the AIDS pandemic. The primary focus is in the care of HIV orphans. SHIRLEY TOWNSEND JONES (#982995) Bennettsville-Cheraw, SC (Church and Community Worker) Assigned to the Bennettsville-Cheraw Area Cooperative Ministry in the SC Conference. She coordinates and implements spiritual, educational, social and economical programs for the 13 member churches and communities. GARY WAYNE LOCKLEAR (#982955) (Church and Community Worker) Assigned to the Rockingham District Native American Cooperative Ministry with the North Carolina Annual Conference. Main goal is to grow the Native American churches and leadership in the coming years and to explore the possibility of developing congregations in all Native American communities in the North Carolina Conference. DAVID MARKAY (#12192Z) The Rev. David A. Markay and his wife Rev. Kristin C. Markay serve as pastors of the multi-cultural, English-language ministry of the Chiesa Metodista di Milano (The Methodist Church of Milan) in Italy. This ministry is an outgrowth of the Italian Methodist/Waldensian Church's missional emphasis of "Offering hospitality to the stranger/Being the church together." (Click here for full bio.) KRISTIN MARKAY (#12193Z) The Rev. Kristin C. Markay and her husband Rev. David A. SONIA REID STRAWN (#03705Z) Seoul, Korea Sonia is a professor at Ewha Womans University. She is a teacher, mentor and friend to university students in Korea. HAZEL TERHUNE (#03774Z) Hazel serves as an evangelist and teacher of English in Tokyo, Japan. ROBERT TERHUNE (03773Z) Robert serves a local church in Tokyo, Japan.
