Urgent Letter from the Chair of the Board of Directors
June 25, 2008
Dear Friend of Robeson County Church and Community Center,
I am writing you today because our beloved Church and Community Center is in urgent need at this time. As I think you know from previous letters, this past year we have experienced reduced grants from several sources. To deal with this problem we have closed our literacy program and reduced our staff, over the past two years, from 17 in 2005, to six full time and six part time people today, 2008.
Yet the need increases. During the first five months of 2008, we served 1068 families with food. Last fiscal year we served 1017 in the entire year!
Here's our situation: We still have not been able to increase our income sufficiently to finish the fiscal year that ends June 30 in the black. And we will be in a bind for beginning our new fiscal year on July 1,2008.
To break even, we need a minimum of $24,000 before July 1, 2008.
To break even, we need a minimum $10.00 gift from every one on our mailing list, more if you can send it. And these funds are needed urgently - postmarked before June 30, if possible. Without your support, we face closing the Church and Community Center.
