No Hungry Neighbors is a ministry of substance ... a ministry that cares for the most vulnerable, that reaches out to those who choose between rent and food, medicine and sustenance, warmth and hunger.
It really is about
feeding our hungry neighbors, about being in relationship with the poor among
us. It is about telling the stories of those who suffer. It is about reaching
out to the least. It is about reaching out to hungry people living in the
wealthiest nation in the history of the world.
As one of our missionaries has said, "For six years I served in a ministry right here in North Carolina. Every single day of my time there, every day, several families would come to us for food ... every day for six years I looked into those desperate faces. Thousands came. And they continue to come still. The only difference today from the time I served at that place is that today the need is greater. More jobs have been lost and more folks are at risk." But more, when we reach out to those who are the least, when we reach out and touch those whom the world deems as untouchable, it is we ourselves who might be transformed ... we ourselves who might be healed ... we ourselves who might be fed.
