Steve Taylor is currently serving as Director of Mission and Justice Ministries for the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served as a Commissioned Missionary of the United Methodist Church, Church and Community Worker, and for six years worked at the Robeson County Church and Community Center (RCC&CC) in Lumberton, North Carolina, where he served as Housing Director and Executive Director. RCC&CC is a national level mission dedicated to the service of love, compassion, and social justice. This ministry is supported by the UMC and by the ecumenical faith community.
Seeking to live out the call of Christ to love neighbor and to love God, Steve has worked in refugee relief in Kozina and Ilustra Bastriza, Slovenia, and in Croatia. He has served with Habitat for Humanity International, leading work teams in Vaz, Adony, and Budapest, Hungary. Steve has led multiple retreats and workshops on spiritual leadership, peace-making, social justice, and refugee relief. He is an activist for the poor, and has worked in the arena of prison ministry. A twenty-year United States Air Force veteran, Steve is now an advocate for peace-making and non-violence. He is married to Sheryl Bilski Taylor, a picture of God’s love in his world.
Steve is a 1991 graduate of Methodist College, Summa Cum Laude, and was the 1991 Sam Edwards Award recipient for academic excellence, spiritual development, and community service.
Steve and Sheryl have two children, Joy, 30, and Brett, 25, and three grandchildren: Taylor, Mack, and Kaylee. |
